Is it wrong that the best part of my birthday was seeing my Discover Davis Homes site on the first page of Google for Sacramento Real Estate. Don’t bother looking – it’s not sitting there right now. For a couple of hours recently the page showed up as result #8. I was working on a couple of projects at my brother Tom’s house in Natomas and he did a search for Sacramento real estate because he wanted to see some of the other local sites. I was very surprised to see my site and specifically the Sacramento page sitting on the first page. I hope this means that with continued work that this page will eventually stick.
It has been difficult for me to completely focus on my site under development because I want the Davis site to also rank for Sacramento. My new site has passed compliance with my brokerage and Metrolist and that means the only thing holding up the process of getting the site live is me. Here is a detailed listing from my current site, Discover Davis Homes vs. the same listing in the future Discover Sacramento Homes still on the development server. I think that clients may prefer the new site over the current one – in addition, the regional site should appeal to a broader base of people than one focused on Davis. Since I’m having such a tough time forcing myself to get the content in place I may just create the city pages and get this site live and fill in the content over time.
Anyway, I just know I still have some work to do before either site has the kind of presence in search engine results for Sacramento that I would like – but I will get there – just like I survived another birthday.

That sounds like a good birthday present to me! Trying to get consistently good Google search result listings is frustrating. OneGate for 95616 sometimes is on the front page for searching for “95616″ and sometimes it isn’t. But that’s the nature of the web and internet marketing – you’re never done.
Thanks Elle. I’ve been solidly on the front page for Davis CA real estate for a long time but just started to try to optimize for Sacramento a few months ago. You are also right about never being done – like all marketing-it is persistency and consistency.
